When it comes to treating patients with diabetes, the big question is, “Do we really have a lasting cure for diabetes”? but i guess this is hope at last!
Diabetes, also known as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience frequent urination (polyuria), increase in water intake (polydipsia) and always hungry (polyphagia).
The consumption of sweetened products could actually be catastrophic to our health especially to adults and aged persons, so it is important to note that too much sweet stuff could cause or develop metabolic syndrome which includes obesity, diabetes and fatty liver disease which is one of the greatest concerns of our age. unknowingly sticking to diets that contains high sugars and fats are really the triggers, as the body struggle to keep up with increasing the levels of glucose in the blood stream. After sometime, the body stops responding to the hormone that processes glucose into energy (insulin) and if that happens could lead to type 2 diabetes.
…NOW LETS ANSWER THE BIG QUESTION “IS THERE A POSSIBLE WAY OF REDUCING THE RISKS OF DIABETES?”
It has been discovered that the research for the possible reduction of diabetes outbreak is on-going as researchers from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have figured out a new method of reducing the risk of diabetes causative (sugar). Using Trehalose which is a natural sugar that deprives the liver of glucose and induces a gene that improves insulin sensitivity and triggers the burning of fats. This natural sugar cannot only be used as the possible treatment for metabolic disease but has been out that it can also be used to cure a diseases that builds up cholesterol plaque in the walls of arteries, causing obstruction of blood flow. Plaques may rupture, causing acute occlusion of the artery by clot (atherosclerosis).
In this new study the researchers carried out their research using mice and dosing them with water containing Trehalose. It was found out that the mice developed various positive effect which made a good use of their natural insulin, burned a whole lots of calories, increased body temperature, gained less weight and accumulated less fat especially in the liver and in their blood streams.
HERE COMES THE GOODNEWS!
Now, the goodnews about this research is the discovery of the gene called Aloxe3 by the researchers, which they stated was activated by reducing the amount of glucose that reaches the liver. This process lead to the positive results which included depriving the mice of their meal and giving them just water, this resulted to the same result as using the natural sugar (trehalose). According to the researchers “fasting or giving trehalose with a normal diet triggers the liver to change the way it processes nutrients, in a beneficial way”. So if glucose can be blocked from the liver using a drug, it may be possible to reap the benefits of inducing fasting without directly restricting food intake thereby reduces the risk of diabetes.
Believe me this is really good news because soon enough we don’t have to be so scared of consuming our sweet stuffs anymore because we have a drug that contains Trehalose which can fight off diabetes for us!
Thanks and see you next time!
